Success Criteria: I am able to identify and write down the materials needed and the steps to be followed to make a banana cake.

Goal:To make a banana cake.

Ingredients:

  • 125g butter, softened.
  • 200g raw sugar.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 3 bananas (mashed).
  • 1 tsp natural vanilla essence.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • 3/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda.
  • 2 tbsp warmed milk.
  • 1 1/2 cup plain flour.
  • 1 tsp baking powder.
Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Grease the inside of a 20cm deep round cake tin and line the base with baking paper.
  2. Gently mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
 3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Don’t overdo it.
4. Add the mashed banana and vanilla, mix to combine .
5. Stir the baking soda into the warmed milk and add to creamed mixture.
6. Sift the dry ingredients together and fold through the creamed mixture. Be sure to measure this quantity precisely.
7. Scoop the mixture into the prepared tin, level, and bake for one hour or until cake springs back when lightly touched. This timing depends on the even heat provided by your oven, so some ovens might take 50 minutes. Keep an eye on it!
8.Leave the cake in the tin for 15 minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool.
9.Top with your favourite icing.

I hit the New Zealand's roads and found some interesting facts about New Zealand's people.

  • Maori Greetings, which is called Hongi. This is really very interesting how the Maori people greet with nose to nose contact to each other.

  • Maori tattoos, this is also very interesting that some men and women have traditional tattoos on their faces.

  •  Another fact I found interesting is that all New Zealand people love rugby sports

Trip to Te Oro

Today I went to Te Oro with Iki,Shara,Candice and Maya to learn about Matariki. When we got there we went to this room that had a big bubble that we could go into but before we went into the bubble we played a little game based on Matariki. I did not really get how to play the game because I did not know the sides to run to.

After we played the game we went into the bubble. In the bubble we  watched a clip on some wakas traveling around the world. Then we watched another clip this clip was about the 7 stars. How to tell where it has come up and where it has come down.

After that we went to the entrants were there was a man standing there. When we got to the man he greeted us and said hello and he told us what he was doing with us. He had a veratrol reality system. When it was my turn it felt like I was in the game. The game we were playing was a underwater game. After all of us had a trun it was time to go back to school.

After that day I felt so happy to have an experience on a veratrol reality system.
