Today's Lesson
Today room 7 learnt about the Islamic culture. We learnt how to write some of our classmates' names, how they pray, what they believe and why they fast. I really enjoyed today’s lesson because I learnt new things and what our student teacher believes.

ARGUMENT WRITING
ARGUMENT: Social Media has a bad influence on all ages Should people of all ages be allowed to have social media? I think people should not have social media because of all the bad things that go around social media. It is scientifically proven that social media increases the risk of depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicide. Another big problem with social media is addiction. More than 3 billion people are using social media and because of the effect it has on our brain, it is addicting both psychologically and physically. Due to a new study from Harvard University, social networking sites, light up the same part of the brain as when taking addictive substances. Cyberbullying is also another terrible thing that is going around social media. Cyberbullying can lead to many negative actions. Cyberbullying is when someone is sending threatening texts or images to another person through an electrical device such as phones, computers, laptops, etc. Therefore cyberbullying can lead to cruel actions. Nowadays there are dating apps. But with dating apps, there are a lot of problems and one of the main problems is Catfish. Catfish is when someone uses another identity to fool someone else by going on a date with them or doing other things with them. The most common reason people Catfish is because they are not confident in who they are so they tend to take other identities. Health, social media can often lead to blurred vision, eye strain, and long term vision problems like nearsightedness because of the amount of time spent staring at an electrical device. Screens are changing our bodies, our brains and is certaining changing the way we think. Overall social media can be a dark place and it can do many bad things to you both psychologically and physically. Social media can change the whole way people look at the world and therefore access to social media should not be allowed.

Today we got to meet our book author, Ta’afuli Andrew Fiu. He came into our class to speak to us. I really enjoyed his visit because I learnt more about his life and what it was like being him. We asked him questions that were unclear in the book. At the end of the session Viliami T said a thank you and I had the opportunity to give he a poster and a nucleus that my mum made for him.

Act of kindness
Today Room 7 did an act of kindness. The act of kindness was to pick out someone’s name from a box and you had to do an act of kindness or buy something for them. I got my friend Key. I bought Key a block of chocolate. The best gift someone got was a box filled with different chocolates and lollies, she was also kind enough to give me one lollie. I felt good today to see all the acts of kindness that people did for each other.

Writing - Vile Prompt
Vile prompt
As my brother Vile ran from the house screaming for help, dad was chasing him with the salu (Samoan Broom) in his lavalava.
I yelled “Just face your consequences like the gangster you think you are Vile”.
Vile took a quick glance at me and yelled “NEVER” then bolted down the street like the flash as dad was screaming,
“I will KEEL YOU”.
Vile didn’t come home that week.
The next week, Vile knew dad was out at work so he came back to the house looking for some food. Mum got him inside and warmed up some leftovers.
“Vile”, mum said “What have you done? Your dad is so angry with you”.
As Vile was about to speak, he heard the sound of dad’s car pulling up in the driveway. He was home early. I quickly ran Vile up into my room and shut the door.
As dad entered the house I could hear him talking in Samoan to my mum. He was saying something about work being cancelled. He was then passing my room to go and take a shower. I never heard him coming past my room because I was trying to get Vile out the window. As he was about to climb out the window, dad stormed into the room and was shocked to see Vile.
Dad then grabbed Vile by his ears and dragged him into the living room. Vile was screaming for help and was begging for mercy, but dad didn’t care. Vile was sat down and given a hiding for at least an hour. During the hour, we got at least two noise complaints. After one long excruciating hour, Vile walked out of the room alive but had bruises and belt marks on his body.
Vile then went to his room and was crying. I wanted to go cheer him up but I thought it would be too much for him right now. A couple of hours later it was dinner time and Vile had stopped crying. When he sat down at the dinner table he apologised to dad and said it would never happen again. Dad then took his eyes off his food, laid them on Vile and said,
“It better not happen again boy, because if it does, I will KEEL YOU”.

Zebrafish - Information report
Zebrafish
The Zebrafish is a very significant creature. They are very significant because they help scientists understand many things. It is used as an animal model for scientific research, drug development, etc. Without models like the Zebrafish there would be a lot of unmarked knowledge.
The scientists who study human development use animal models such as the Zebrafish. They use these models to get a visual of the growth and movement. Zebrafish have an advantage over other animal models because they are transparent so they give researchers a live view of what is going on inside the fish. This is not all, they develop faster than others which makes them very useful.
The Zebrafish can grow up to 4-5 cm long but depending on the location it normally grows up to 1.8 - 3.7 cm long. The fish can be found in tropical freshwaters on the easteren side of India in a river called Ganges river and is native to the southerneasteren Himalayas region. It takes about 3 to 4 months for a Zebrafish to fully grow.
The Zebrafish is formed through a process called gastrulation. This process is when the embryo forms three layers. The process starts with the different types of tussi layers. Then the eyes form. The embryo also known as a baby will move for the first time. Soon after Pigments will start to form, which is what gives the colors for the body and eyes. The heart will soon start to beat and will move through blood vessels with blood cells. After all this is done the embryo will hatch and in three days of hatching it will begin to eat.
Overall the Zebrafish is a very astounding and exquisite creature. It is very useful to scientific research and without animals like the Zebrafish scientist wouldn’t be able to understand many things.

PWC Learning
This morning Price Water Coopers came into our class to give us a lesson about Financial Literacy. First they introduced themselves and then we got into our first activity. Our first activity was in a book that they gave us and we had to tick or x out things that we thought that were not necessary to buy.
The next activity we did was thinking of ways to earn money and things that could reduce expenses. My ideas for earning money were Carwash, Food sale, Get a job, Garage sale, Window washing, Clean the house, Lemonade stand, Sell chocolate bars, Fundraise and for Reduce expenses I only had one idea which was to buy cheap things.
Our last and final activity before morning tea was a Saving plan. Each table was allocated a different object. My object was a Tablet and the cost of the tablet was $200. My table saving plan was to do a car wash in the first week for $10 each day so we got up to $70 in the first week. Second week we decided to do a Food sale and $5 each day which gets us $105 in the second week. In the Third week we did Window washing for $10 for each day, which got us to $175 in the third week. And for the fourth and final week we Babysat each day for $5 Which got us up to $210. So we got what we were saving for and had an extra $10.
