The Break In

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK, it was 1 am, my 2 sisters and I were home alone
because our parents were on a business trip out of the country.
We first thought it was our parent's home early but then we saw
somebody or something dressed in black from his head to his toes.
All of a sudden we hear someone breaking in from the back door.

We quickly but quietly ran upstairs and went into our parent's room
because it was the only room with a door that could lock and had a
cellphone. My sister Janie quickly found the phone and dialed 111.
The operator told my sister to stay on the phone and hide, so we
went to the toilet and locked the door.

It was so quiet that it was like nobody had ever been to our house except
us. We decided that we would go out to check if they had left, we
completely ignored the operator telling us to just wait for the police.
We slowly opened the door and as we were opening the door it was forced
open by someone, it was the robbers not one but three, they knocked us all
out and put us in the back of their car. 

We soon woke up and heard sirens behind us; it was the cops following us at
high speed. The chase had gone on for at least 45 minutes before the car
ran out of fuel. We were safely returned to our homes with our parents
waiting, it turns out that the people that took us were wanted by the police.

From that day on we were never left at home alone and if our parents had a
business trip they would take us with them.     

ANZAC - Activity

I think that the Southern cross is so special to the ANZACs because it is a very honorable medal. The two words that I chose were Flanders and Ordinary.  I chose these words because I don’t really hear these words often.

Meaning

Flanders: 

Flanders is the name of the several battles fought in Flanders during the first world war.

Ordinary:

Ordinary is a word that describes people with no distinctive features AKA normal. Which nobody is because we all have different specialties.

ANZAC - Facts

Today I read 21 facts about ANZAC day. Here are 5 facts I found interesting:

1. Did you know that all the ANZACs were volunteers

2. More than 11,000 ANZACs died at Gallipoli and more than 23,500 were wounded.

3. In Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and Niue, ANZAC Day is also commemorated to honour their soldiers who participated in the campaign.

4. Services are held at dawn because dawn was the best time to attack their enemy. When the sun started coming up they woke up and got ready to attack. 

5. ANZAC Day was not a public holiday in New Zealand until 1921.

Today in KiwiKidsNews I read about a 16 year old Iranian refugee beating
the chess world champion. Alireza Firouzja beat the world champion in the
finals for the $78,000 Banter Blitz Cup. People are now saying because of
his achievement he might become the next world champion.

Kiwi Kids News - Plane Lands On Canadian Motorway

Today I read an article about a man who was flying a small plane and had to
make an emergency landing on a Canada highway. The plane landed in
between two cars on a highway in Quebec City, Canada. The pilot of the
Piper Cherokee aircraft called the Quebec fire department to ask permission
to land on the highway due to mechanical difficulties.

Throughout last term we have been using a variety of different
equipment and their uses. 

Task:Complete the table below by filling in:

Today my class and I had a General Knowledge Quiz. It what pretty hard but I managed to get 28/32, Which is a pretty good. I had a lot of fun taking the quiz and also learnt a lot.
