Tech - Earthworms

How Vermiculture Works | NaturalFlow

Last week on Friday we had a science class at Tamaki College. Our class was about Earthworms. We started off by watching a video. During the video I learnt that there were about 27 different Earthworm species in the UnitedKingdom and that they could grow up to 30cm long. We also learnt that Hermaphrodite is when an Earthworm has a Male and Female organs in one body, another word I learnt was Clitellum and it is a body part of an Earthworm. The role of a Clitellum is like a womb it carries around egg’s. After we finished that we observed real Earthworms. We numbered each worm, observed what their behaviour was like and estimated how long they were. Worm 1 was very chill and was about 7cm long, Worm 2 was also very chill and was at least 9cm long and the last worm I observed was Worm 3 and it was exactly the same as the rest, very chill and was about 5cm long.

  1. Hi Richie, wow I did not know that there are so many species of earthworms. I really like the vocabulary you are learning in your Science class.
